Alnathan

ALNATHAN ăl nā’ thən (̓Αλναθάν, God has given), ASV, RSV ELNATHAN. One of the Jewish leaders sent by Ezra to Iddo to request that priests be sent to serve in the house of the Lord (1 Esd 8:44). He is the same as Elnathan in Ezra 8:16.

(Alnathan, "God has given," the Revised Version (British and American) ELNATHAN): Apocryphal name of a person (1 Esdras 8:44) corresponding to Elnathan of Ezr 8:16. He was one of the learned men summoned by Ezra, as he was beginning his journey to Jerusalem, and sent to Iddo to ask for ministers for the house of Yahweh.
