Alb

A white linen garment reaching from the neck to the ankles, with tight-fitting sleeves, usually gathered in at the waist by a girdle, worn by the ministers at the Mass or Eucharist in the Roman and some Anglican churches. Derived from the classical undertunic it was not at first regarded as a specifically eucharistic vestment.
