Marriage: Rock Solid and White Hot
We just finished recording two new classes on the Song of Songs — a 20-hour seminary-level version and a 3-hour lay-level version, by Dr. Miles Van Pelt. I was wondering how Miles was going to handle the anatomically precise terminology in the book, and he did a masterful job.
What I did not realize was that the Song of Songs is a guidebook for marriage. It emphasizes how our commitment to our spouses need to be “rock solid,” but it also needs to be “white hot” in terms of intimacy. Near the end of the class, he defines intimacy not only in sexual terms but in many other ways, such as: doing things for and with your spouse like doing the dishes, going for walks, and watching the TV show that they want to watch. Since we filmed the class, I personally have discovered many ways in which I can value Robin and strengthen our marriage.
The class will be available able in about two months, and we will announce it when it comes out. But I wanted to emphasize that these classes are only possible due to the generosity of our users. As we approach the end of the year, please remember BiblicalTraining in your charitable giving. It really does make a difference around the world. Jesus’ Great Commission is to teach all people everything. In order for it to be for all people, it has to be free, which is why we are a non-profit.
On a personal note, most of you probably do not know that Miles and I have been friends for many years. I actually taught him Greek thirty-five years ago at Azusa Pacific University, and we have stayed in touch ever since then.

One of the joys of recording classes at our home is the ability to take some amazing hikes. During this recording session, we visited a place called Frater Lake, where we brought charcuterie and a lot of wood and built a roaring fire in a warming hut there. Many happy memories.

Ed and Tacie are the couple to the left. Ed has worked with BiblicalTraining for over 13 years, even in the early years when the organization had little funding, he provided all of the support for our users. He also worked behind the scenes on most of our classes. He is now looking forward to going part-time so he can spend more time with his family and his church. I will miss him, but I am happy for the next stage in his life.

P.S. The dog is Brady, our two-year-old German Shepherd.
