Shomer

SHOMER (shō'mêr, Heb. shōmēr, keeper, watcher)

The father of Jehozabad, one of the conspirators against Joash of Judah. Jehozabad killed Joash because he had murdered the son of Jehoiada the priest (2Kgs.12.20-2Kgs.12.21; 2Chr.24.25-2Chr.24.26).A great-grandson of Asher, through Beriah and Heber (1Chr.7.32). In 1Chr.7.34 he is called Shemer (asv) and Shamer (kjv).


SHOMER shō’ mər (שֹׁמֵ֤ר). The mother (or father?) of Jehozabad, one of the murderers of Joash (Jehoash) king of Judah (2 Kings 12:21; 2 Chron 24:26). See Shimeath.
