Jochebed

JOCHEBED (jŏk'ĕ-bĕd, Heb. yôkhevedh, Jehovah is glory). Daughter of Levi, wife of Amram and mother of Moses (Exod.6.20; Num.26.59). She was a sister of Kohtah, Amram’s father (Exod.6.20).

JOCHEBED jŏk’ ə bĕd (יוֹכֶ֤בֶד, Yahweh is glory). A daughter of Levi, and sister of Kohath; the wife of Amram; and the mother of Aaron, Moses, and Miriam (Exod 6:20; Num 26:59). Her name appears to be compounded with the divine name Yahweh; but because this would mean that the name Yahweh was known before the time of Moses, some scholars think it ought not to be understood in this sense.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

Daughter of Levi, wife of Amram and mother of Moses (Ex 6:20; Nu 26:59). According to Ex 6:20, she was a sister of Kohath, Amram’s father.
