Hashabneiah

HASHABNEIAH (hăsh'ăb-n̄e-īa, Heb. hăshavneyâh)

The father of Hattush, a worker on the wall (Neh.3.10).One of the Levites who prayed at the confession of sin after Ezra had read from the “Book of the Law of God” (Neh.8.18-Neh.9.5).



HASHABNEIAH hăsh’ əb ne’ yə (חְשַׁבְנְיָ֜ה, KJV HASHABNIAH, hăsh’abnī’a). 1. The father of Hattush, who helped rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah (Neh 3:10).

2. A Levite who is mentioned in connection with the prayer that was offered before the signing of the covenant (Neh 9:5). He may be the same as the Hashabiah of Ezra 8:19, 24; Nehemiah 10:11; 11:22; 12:24.

(chashabhneyah; the King James Version Hashabniah, hash-ab-ni’a).

(1) Father of one of the builders of the wall (Ne 3:10).

(2) A Levite mentioned in connection with the prayer preceding the signing of the covenant (Ne 9:5); possibly identical with the Hashabiah (chashabhyah) of Ezr 8:19,24; Ne 10:11; 11:22; 12:24, or one of these.
