Crypt

An underground cell, chamber or vault, especially one beneath the main floor of a church, used as a burial place, chapel, or oratory. Some crypts containing the remains of saints are designed as the focus of pilgrimages. Modern uses of crypts, in addition to the traditional ones, include museums, refuges for the “down and out,” and youth clubs.
