Canadian Council of Churches

Organized in 1944 “to promote the Church's mission, unity, renewal and obedience.” Its formation resulted from interchurch cooperation in Canada and ecumenism abroad. Current members are the Anglican Church of Canada, Armenian Church, Baptist Federation of Canada, Christian Church (Disciples), Greek Orthodox Church, Lutheran Church in America (Canada Section), Presbyterian Church in Canada, Reformed Church, Salvation Army, Society of Friends, and United Church of Canada. The council has a close association with several interdenominational societies, and a working relationship with the Canadian Catholic Conference. The supreme decision-making body is the triennial assembly, with members appointed by the participating churches.
