Azetas

AZETAS ə ze’ təs (̓Αζητάς). The ancestor of a family that returned from the Exile with Zerubbabel 1 (1 Esd 5:15 RSV, KJV). His name is omitted in the parallel passages in Ezra 2:16; Nehemiah 7:21.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

The head of a family accompanying Zerubbabel out of captivity (1 Esdras 5:15). Neither Ezra nor Nehemiah gives this name in his list. There may be an echo of the name in that of Wady Yasal, to the right of `Ain el-Loz, in Wady en- Nar.
