New Class: Essentials of Catholic Theology

We are delighted to announce this three-and-a-half-hour seminar on the basic theology of Catholicism. I have been looking for years to find just the right person to teach this class. The teacher had to be an expert in Protestant and Catholic theology, and had to be irenic and non-combative. We found him!

Dr. Gregg Allison has taught theology and church history for twenty-seven years at both the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY) and Western Seminary (Portland, OR). He has 18 years of ministry experience as a staff member of Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU), where he worked in campus ministry, as well as serving as a missionary in Italy and Switzerland. He also co-pastored a church in Lugano, Switzerland. His book, Roman Catholic Theology and Practice: An Evangelical Assessment, is a recognized standard in the field as he presents the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is an honest and irenic manner.

This course takes a systemic approach to explain the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and gives a comparative assessment to evangelical theology in the areas of salvation, Jesus, the church, eucharist, baptism and Mariology. The quotes that Dr. Allison is reading are from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, an official catechism approved by the Roman Catholic Church. My guess is that many will hear what he says and be surprised; this is why it was essential to link his teaching to an officially-recognized catechism.

BiblicalTraining.org in the Philippines

We continue to receive encouraging emails from people around the world who use BiblicalTraining.org. This one was especially encouraging.

First of all I would like to thank you for BiblicalTraining.org. This website has helped me a lot in my journey as a believer and a church leader, especially during this time of pandemic.  Initially, I tried to learn by myself and found the lessons very helpful in my journey.  So like hearing good news, I shared Biblicaltraining.org with a few of my co-leaders/pastors in July of last year. They received the same benefit!  We watched your videos and afterward, discussed the topics and raised questions around it.

Our small group of four, while advancing on our lessons, expanded to run the LIFE IS A JOURNEY class to at least forty people (pastors and leaders of different churches and denominations) joining us weekly via zoom from different places in the Philippines and even from Hong Kong and Malaysia. This happened last February and finished last April. They were so blessed and touched by every lesson.  All of them expressed their appreciation to your ministry. Many of them would say that this pandemic has become more meaningful because they were equipped using your resources. This month, we will run Big Screen Perspective to equip further those who finished the first series and hopefully have more to join us. We intend to continue by God's grace until we finished a track that will hopefully cause them to journey and lead others.

I hope that this testimony encourages you to pursue this God-given ministry.  Your labor in the Lord has borne fruits in our lives. Indeed God is glorified in your work.

Soli Deo Gloria
