We are so delighted to announce this new, fully-funded class on historical geography entitled, Listen to the Land. This was, personally, my favorite topic in seminary. It connects the text of the Bible with the geography of the land, helping make both come alive. If you can’t tour Israel, or if you are planning on doing so, this is an ideal class to help you understand the land of Abraham, David, and Jesus.
Dr. Cyndi Parker is one of the top teachers and guides in Israel, working closely with the Jerusalem University College, having led over 40 tours. She both knows and loves the land. She holds a Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies from the University of Gloucestershire, and teaches in churches and universities around the world. Dr. Parker lived in Jerusalem for five years and currently teaches courses about the geographical, cultural, religious, and political context of the Bible at Jerusalem University College. She also holds a M.A. in Old Testament and and a M.A. in Religion from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in French and Business Studies from Butler University.
You can listen to her story of how she fell in love with historical geography by clicking here. Her book, Encountering Jesus in the Real World of the Gospels, has just been released, and here is her discussion of it.
I trust that you will enjoy the class and grow an even deeper love for the Bible and its historical context.
