William Morley Punshon

1824-1881. Methodist minister. Born, educated, and ordained (1849) in England, he served there for eighteen years, then went to the Metropolitan Church in Toronto in 1868. He returned to England in 1873. A man of “moving eloquence,” he had a vision of Canadian Methodism united from Atlantic to Pacific, and was the prime mover behind the negotiations for the unification which led in 1874 to the emergence of the Methodist Church of Canada.
