Upper Chamber

UPPER CHAMBER, UPPER ROOM (Heb. ‘ălîyâh, lofty, Gr. anōgeon, a room upstairs, hyperōon, upper). A room frequently built on the roofs of houses and used in summer because it was cooler than the regular living quarters (Mark.14.15; Luke.22.12; Acts.1.13; Acts.20.8). One of these was the scene of the Lord’s Last Supper (Luke.22.12).
