TINKLING. The sound of small bells that women wore on a chain fastened to anklets. The tinkling (Isa.3.16 jb, kjv, mlb, nasb; jingling neb, niv) to ) is caused by the affected pose and short, jerky steps. In 1Cor.13.1 the tinkling (kjv; clanging nasb, neb, niv, rsv; clashing jb, mlb) is the noise made by a cymbal.
