Surfeiting

SURFEITING (sûr'fĕt-ĭng, Gr. kraipalē, a drinking-bout). Overindulgence in eating or drinking, intoxication, a drunken headache (Luke.21.34 kjv). “Dissipation” (rsv, niv) is a good translation.

SURFEITING (κραιπάλη, G3190, overindulgence). In 16th-cent. Eng. the word meant overindulgence in anything, esp. food and drink, to the point of disgust and loathing. It is now obsolete in this sense. The KJV of Luke 21:34 uses the word; the RSV has DISSIPATION, since the primary reference is to excessive drinking and its results.
