Sampsames

SAMPSAMES sămp’ sə mēz (Σαμψάμης). One of the places to which the Rom. consul Lucius wrote a letter in favor of the Jews (1 Macc 15:23; KJVmg. and ASVmg. Sampsaces). It may have been the same as the modern Samsun, a seaport on the Black Sea.

A place mentioned in 1 Macc 15:23, usually identified with Samsun, on the coast of the Black Sea. The Vulgate, with the Revised Version margin, has "Lampsacus."
