Rock badger

ROCK BADGER (שָׁפָן, H9176, CONEY KJV, ASV; ROCK BADGER, BADGER RSV). There is no evidence to support RSV tr. The contexts in Leviticus 11:5, “chews the cud but does not part the hoof” and Psalm 104:18, “the rocks are a refuge” confirm the tr. “coney” (q.v.) of which the modern name is “hyrax.”
