Pierre Du Moulin

molinaeus) (1568-1658. French Protestant pastor. Born in France and educated at Sedan, he was sent to England in 1588 and acted as tutor to the duke of Rutland. He studied at Cambridge under William Whitaker. In 1593 he became professor at Leyden, lodging with Scaliger,* and having Grotius* as a pupil. Ordained in 1599, he became pastor in the French Reformed Church at Charenton near Paris. His house was the resort of leading Protestants. On a visit to England he was made D.D. by Cambridge and given a prebend at Canterbury by James I. In the latter part of his life he preached and lectured at Sedan. He wrote many books and treatises, mostly of a controversial nature.
