PEDESTAL (כֵּן, H4029). A word found in the description of the laver in the Temple, of which it is said that “its opening was round, as a pedestal is made” (1 Kings 7:31, KJV BASE). The reference is to the round foot of a column.

In two places (1Ki 7:29,31) the Revised Version (British and American) gives this word for the King James Version "base" (in Solomon’s "Sea").
