PADDLE (יָתֵד, H3845). A word found only in Deuteronomy 23:13 (KJV; RSV STICK), where it refers to a wooden spade to be used for latrine purposes. The word entered the KJV via the Geneva Bible; in early Eng. it referred to a small shovel used for cleaning a ploughshare.
