Kitlish

KITLISH (kĭt'lĭsh). A town in the lowland of the territory of Judah (Josh.15.40). ASV and RSV have Chitlish. The site is unknown.


CHITLISH, CHITHLISH kĭt lĭsh (כִּתְלִֽישׁ, meaning uncertain). Found only in Joshua 15:40. Both the KJV and the NEB spell this place name as KITHLISH. It is one of the cities which was assigned to the tribe of Judah when the land was divided during the conquest. There is some question as to its exact location in Judah.
