Jose Burgos

1837-1872. Philippine-born Spaniard, theologian-curate at Manila Cathedral. From 1863 he led the nationalistic clergy in the Philippines,* and wrote a “Manifesto” for Filipino priests' rights. With Fathers Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora he headed the reform committees.
