Jetur

JETUR (jē'têr, Heb. yetûr, meaning uncertain). A people descended from Ishmael (Gen.25.15; 1Chr.1.31). Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh warred against this clan (1Chr.5.18-1Chr.5.19). They are the Itureans of NT times.



JETUR jē’ tər (יְט֥וּר). A tribe descended from Ishmael (Gen 25:15; 1 Chron 1:31). The two and a half tribes warred with it (1 Chron 5:19). It is probable that the Ituraeans of NT times were descended from it. See Ituraea.
