JEHDEIAH (jĕ-dē'ya, Jehovah will be glad)

A descendant of Moses and contemporary of David (1Chr.24.20). His father’s name is Shubael here but Shebuel (jb, kjv, mlb, nasb, rsv; Shubael neb, niv) in 1Chr.23.16, where he is called “the first” or “the chief” of his family.A man of the tribe of Zebulun whom David appointed to have charge of the donkeys that belonged to the king (1Chr.27.30).



JEHDEIAH jĕ de’ yə (יֶחְדְּיָֽהוּ, may Yahweh be glad). 1. A Levite who lived in the time of King David (1 Chron 24:20).

2. A Meronothite officer in charge of David’s she-asses (1 Chron 27:30).

je-de’-ya, ja’-de-ya (yechdeyahu, "may Yahweh give joy!"):

(1) A Levite, head of the family of Shubael (1Ch 24:20).

(2) An officer of David "over the asses" (1Ch 27:30).
