Jegar Sahadutha
JEGAR SAHADUTHA (jē'garsā'ha-dū'tha, heap of witness). The name given by Laban to the “witness heap,” called by Jacob Galeed (Gen.31.47).
JEGAR-SAHADUTHA je gär-sāha du’ tha (יְגַ֖ר שָׂהֲדוּתָ֑א ; LXX βουνὸς τη̂ς μαρτρίας, meaning, witness-heap). Aramaic name used by Laban to describe a heap of stones set up by him and Jacob, who called it Galeed (Gen 31:47). The latter term may be etymologically related to the name “Gilead” which was later applied to that country.
