Jabesh
JABESH (jā'bĕsh, Heb. yavēsh, dry)
Father of Shallum, who murdered Zachariah and reigned over Israel for a month (2Kgs.15.8-2Kgs.15.13).A short term for Jabesh Gilead (1Chr.10.12). See also Jabesh Gilead.
JABESH jā’ bĭsh (יָבֵ֔שׁ, dry.) 1. A short form of Jabesh-gilead.
2. The father of King Shallum of Israel, who murdered King Zechariah and usurped the throne (2 Kings 15:10, 13, 14). It is possible that “Shallum the son of Jabesh” may mean that Shallum was a native of the town of Jabesh, as in Isaiah 7:6 “the son of Tabeel” refers to a man whose home was in Tabeel.
