Hassophereth

HASSOPHERETH hă sŏf’ ə rĕth (הַסֹּפֶ֖רֶת). KJV SOPHERETH sŏf’ e rĕth (Ezra 2:55). A family of Temple servants who returned from the Captivity (Ezra 2:55; 1 Esd 5:33, KJV “Azaphion,” ASV “Assaphioth”); called “Sophereth” in Nehemiah 7:57 RSV.
