Gospel of Matthias

An apocryphal gospel according to Matthias (Acts 1:23) is reported by Eusebius as part of a corpus known among the heretics. Other Fathers, such as Origen, Ambrose, and Jerome, also mention it. Cognate with this lost work is a document containing “Traditions” ascribed to Matthias. Sayings from this are preserved by Clement of Alexandria; and there are affinities uniting this document with the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas.*
