Goddess

There is no separate word for "goddess" in the Old Testament. In the only instance in which the word occurs in English Versions of the Bible (1Ki 11:5,33), the gender is determined by the noun--"Ashtoreth, the god (goddess) of the Sidonians." In the New Testament the term is applied to Diana of Ephesus (Ac 19:27,35,37).
