Frying pan

FRYING PAN (Heb. מַרְחֶ֫שֶׁת, H5306, from the root, רָחַשׁ, H8180), a rare phenomenon of an Aram. loanword which appears in the sense of “to creep” (B. Landsberger, Die Fauna Des Alten Mesopotamien nach der 14 Tafel der Serie HARRA=Hubullu [1934], p. 127), but what exactly the connection between the two words is semantically is as yet undetermined (Lev. 2:7; 7:9).
