Friedrich Wilhelm Blass

1843-1907. German philologist and grammarian. He taught at the universities of Kiel and Halle and wrote extensively in the areas of classical studies and NT criticism. His Grammatik des neutestamentlichen Griechisch (1896; ET 1898) was foundational and is still in use today, though in a radically revised form. Blass argued that the so-called Western and non- Western texts of Acts originated as different editions by Luke himself, a view which has not commended itself to many scholars.
