Fellowship of Reconciliation

Probably the most significant of the peace organizations created during World War I. It was founded in England in December 1914 by Henry Hodgkin, a Quaker, and rapidly spread to the United States in 1915. It is now an international organization and the leading American pacifist organization. It is based upon the essential unity of mankind and the power of truth and love to resolve human conflict. It has been active in nonviolent intervention on behalf of victims of injustice and exploitation, working for the abolition of war, the redemption and rehabilitation of public offenders, encouraging reverence for personality, and the maintenance of a spirit of self-giving love while engaged in the efforts to achieve these purposes.
