Cricket
CRICKET (חַרְגֹּל, H3005; cricket ASV, RSV Lev 11:22; beetle KJV). (See Beetle.) Words in this category—occurring once only in food catalogs—are hard to tr. with any confidence and the problem is discussed under Locust, of which cḥargōl may well be another form. The cricket belongs to another section of the same insect family and is best known for the close association of several species with man—the cricket on the hearth.
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)
This occurs in Le 11:22 (the King James Version "beetle"), and doubtless refers to some kind of locust or grasshopper.
