A garment with a hood, vestis caputiata, traditionally worn by monks (whence the title “Capuchins”* of one of the orders of Franciscan Friars). While two orders of monks wear only a cowl unattached, the others from the time of Benedict take the cowl to include the cloak and mantle together with the hood.
