Colloquy of Worms
1540-41. The adjourned Colloquy of Hagenau* met in Worms in November 1540, although the talks did not get under way before January 1541. Johann Eck* was the spokesman for the Roman Catholics; Philip Melanchthon* for the Protestants. Agreement was reached on the doctrine of original sin. Because of the impending diet at Ratisbon,* however, the discussions were broken off, to be resumed there.
