Christophers

A movement established in 1945 among American Roman Catholics to promote the common good of society. Under the leadership of its founder, James Keller, it has sought to enlist individuals from all walks of life to become “Christophers”-a title derived from the Greek word meaning “Christ-bearers.” They attempt to “overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21), and seek to penetrate and transform every social institution by expressing love for all men through concrete constructive actions in the varied spheres of government, labor, and industry, the family, education, entertainment, and the arts. With headquarters in New York City, the Christophers distribute a newsletter and numerous books, and broadcast their message through radio and television.
