Chargers

CHARGERS. A word found in RSV Nahum 2:3, meaning “a horse trained to charge.” The Heb. has בְּרֹשִׁ֖ים, cypress or fir trees, and KJV tr. accordingly. RSV follows the LXX in substituting פָּרָשִׁ֑ים, horsemen, and taking this to be fig. for “mighty men.” The ASV, on the other hand, takes בְּרֹשִׁ֖ים fig. and tr. the term “cypress spears,” i.e. spear shafts.
