The father of a clan, RSV Bichrites, KJV Berites (2 Sam 20:14). The progenitor of the clan of which Sheba was a descendant was Becher (Gen 46:21; 1 Chron 7:6-9). The name prob. meant “firstborn.”

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

Father of Sheba who rebelled against David. Bichri is of the house of Benjamin and the word probably means a "descendant of Becher" (2Sa 20:1 ff). Compare BECHER 1.
