BEZAI (bē'zā-ī)

Head of a family of 323 men who returned with Zerubbabel (Ezra.2.17; Neh.7.23).Probably a member of the same family a century later (Neh.10.18).

BEZAI be’ zī (בֵצָ֔י). This man was mentioned as the head of a family of 323 individuals who returned to Pal. after the Exile (Ezra 2:17; Neh 7:23; 1 Esd 5:16). The Bezai who set his seal to the covenant of Ezra was a later descendant (Neh 10:18).

(betsay, "shining"(?)):

(1) A chief who with Nehemiah sealed the covenant (Ne 10:18).

(2) The descendants of Bezai returned with Zerubbabel to Jerusalem (323, Ezr 2:17; 324, Ne 7:23 = Bassai, 1 Esdras 5:16).
