Beth Lebaoth

BETH-LEBAOTH bĕth’ lĭ bā’ ŏth (בֵּ֥ית לְבָאֹ֖ות, LXX B Βαθαρωθ; A Βαιθλαβαθ; house of lionesses). A city assigned to Simeon within the borders of Judah (Josh 19:6). It is prob. the same as Lebaoth (15:32), which is thought to be identical with Beth-biri (1 Chron 4:31). The last name is prob. preserved in Jebel el-Biri in the Negeb.

beth-le-ba’-oth, beth-leb’-aoth (beth lebha’oth; Baithalbath, "house of lionesses"): A town in the territory of Simeon (Jos 19:6). In 1Ch 4:31 the name is given as Beth-birei: the Revised Version (British and American) BETH-BIRI (which see).
