Bene Jaakan
BENE JAAKAN (bĕn'ĕ jā'a-kăn, Heb. benê ya‘a-qān). A desert encampment of the Israelites on their journey, placed immediately before Moserah, the site of Aaron’s death in Deut.10.6. The Bene Jaakans are sometimes identified with the Horites.
BENE-JAAKAN bĕn’ ĭ jā’ ə kən (בְּֽנֵי־יַעֲקָ֑ן, sons of Jaakan). A tribe of Horites in the area near Mt. Hor at the time of the Exodus or shortly before (Jaakan in 1 Chron 1:42=Akan in Gen 36:27). Cf. Beeroth Bene-Jaakan. They were eventually displaced by the Edomites (Deut 2:12).
