AHIHUD (a-hī'hŭd, Heb. ’ăhîhûdh, brother is majesty)

Prince of the tribe of Asher; selected by Moses to help divide the land of Canaan (Num.34.27).A son of Ehud (1Chr.8.7).

AHIHUD ə hī’ hŭd (אֲחִיה֖וּד, brother is majesty. 1. A leader of the tribe of Asher; son of Shelomi (Num 34:27). He was appointed by Moses to help divide the land W of the Jordan after the Israelites settled there.

2. A son of Ehud of the tribe of Benjamin (1 Chron 8:6, 7). The text is difficult and prob. corrupt, so Ahihud may be identified as the son of either Gera or Heglam.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

(’achihudh, "brother is majesty"):

(1) One of the chief men of the tribe of Asher. He was selected by Moses to help divide the land west of the Jordan (Nu 34:27).
