Biography
Dr. Todd Miles is a Professor of Theology at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and serves as the Pastor of Teaching at Gresham Bible Church. With a distinguished academic background, he earned his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and holds both a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Oregon State University.
Dr. Miles' academic and professional career spans both theology and science. Before entering the theological field, he worked as a Research and Development Engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has since become an accomplished author, writing on topics at the intersection of faith and contemporary culture, including his books Superheroes Can’t Save You: Epic Examples of Historic Heresies (2018) and Cannabis and the Christian: What the Bible Says about Marijuana (2021).
Outside of academia and ministry, Dr. Miles is a dedicated family man. He is married to Camille, and together they have six children and five grandchildren. His involvement in the church extends beyond teaching, having served as an elder and lead preaching elder at Hinson Memorial Baptist Church, Portland, where he remains active. His cross-cultural ministry work includes time with Restoration Ministries in São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Miles is also a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and has been recognized for his academic achievements, including the Zondervan Greek Award.
