Biography
Dr. Peter Kuzmic, the Eva B. and Paul E. Toms Distinguished Professor of World Missions and European Studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is a native of Slovenia and a citizen of Croatia. He is recognized as the foremost evangelical scholar in Eastern Europe and a leading authority on the Christian response to Marxism and post-Communist ministry. Fluent in multiple languages, Dr. Kuzmic earned his B.A. from Southern California College, M.A. from Wheaton Graduate School, and both M.Th. and D.Th. from the University of Zagreb. In 1992, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Dr. Kuzmic is the founding president of the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek, Croatia, the first evangelical theological college in Eastern Europe with a graduate program. He has played a vital role in cross-cultural ministry, including founding Agape and New Europe Vision, which provide humanitarian aid and spiritual support throughout the Balkans. His advisory work on reconciliation has involved collaboration with international organizations such as the United Nations and the U.S. State Department.
An acclaimed speaker and award-winning author, Dr. Kuzmic has spoken at global conferences, including Lausanne and Urbana, and published nine books and numerous academic articles. He is also a regular columnist and editor of the Croatian Christian journal Izvori. Dr. Kuzmic and his wife, Vlasta, have three daughters and three grandchildren.
