How to Get Started with Biblical Training

Our Mission

The mission of BiblicalTraining is to provide world-class educational resources for making new and fully-formed disciples within the context of the local church.

We hope to accomplish this through providing a free online seminary for advanced students and discipleship resources for new believers. We also provide a certificate program that allows a mentor to monitor the progress of an individual or group as they take courses in spiritual foundations, biblical foundations, or leadership development.

Three areas

Biblical Training is divided into three areas of educational materials. These three options are available along the top of each page in the center of the tab bar.

  • "Certificates" These will be offered for a small fee in the areas of spiritual foundations, biblical foundations, and leadership development.
  • "Classes" These are free courses, including a full online seminary and several overview or summary classes of the full seminary courses.
  • "Resources" If you are looking for a particular topic, you can use the resources link to search the entire site for lectures on that topic. Here you can also access our free online library of books and course transcriptions.

If you want to look around, chose one of the areas and browse through each section to see what that area has to offer.

Registration

You can attend the first lecture of every class, but if you want to take the rest of the class or download any mp3 files, we ask that you first register. It is free and comes with no obligations; however, it helps us see what classes are being attended and/or downloaded.

No registration is required for the "Who is Jesus?" classes or the first lecture of the other classes.

Class page

The Class page gives you the basic information about the class (including the reading lists if we have one) and lists the lectures at the bottom. Click on the title of the class, which will take you to the lecture.

Lecture page

On the left side are links to downloadable information. If you want to download the lecture in mp3 format, chose the high quality or fast down option. The latter is about half the size of the former. If there are any handouts or lecture notes, their links will be available as well.

At the top is the title of the lecture and the audio player. If you want to listen to the class on the web, just click on the right pointing arrow across from "Listen now:". If you want to move to another part of the lecture, click and drag the small gray bar that show you where you are in the lecture.

This page has three, possibly four, tabs.

  • Information. This summarizes the lecture and gives you some basic information how to navigate the options.
  • Outline. Outline for the lecture. If there is not one present, we invite you to write one while listening to the lecture and send it to us through the contact page. As you listen to the lecture, this is the best window of information to be looking at.
  • Transcription. Transcription for the lecture. If there is not one present, we invite you to write one and send it to us through the contact page.
  • Reference materials. This tab gives you access to BibleGateway and all of their resources. As you listen to a lecture, you can double check references, look up words you don't know, etc.
  • Video. If we have video for this class, this tablets you watch it and follow the outline. It current requires QuickTime or Flash 9.
